BTEC Level 3 Handcuff Trainers Course
The Main Aims of the Course are:
To qualify individuals as NFPS / BTEC Level 3 Handcuff Trainers and certificate them with the BTEC Level 3 Advanced Award in the Safe and Effective Use of Restraint Equipment.
Certification
Successful completion of this course will provide you with the following certificate:
- NFPS Handcuff Instructor Accreditation.
- BTEC Level 3 Advanced Award in the Safe and Effective Use of Restraint Equipment.

1 Day - Cost £375.00 + Vat (or £275.00 + vat if being taken as an additional module with the BTEC Level 3 Advanced Restraint Instructors Course)

Course Materials
The course materials include: Instructor Manual, Student Manual and Student Workbook, 2 x Powerpoint Presentations and Quicktime Instructional Movies - Cost of only £375.00 + Vat.Additional Baton Training for Trainers Option
On addition, on the 15th June we will also be running this course with a bespoke Baton Training Trainers course to train individuals as Baton Trainers. This course will be run by an experienced ex-Police Baton Trainer.

Course Objectives
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- Understand the primary reason for handcuffing.
- Understand the Health & Safety implications, including Sections 2 and 3 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Regulation 3(1) of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, the requirements of PUWER as well as the implications of the new Health and Safety Offences Act 2008 and the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007.
- Understand the law, including compliance with: Section 3 (1) of the Criminal Law Act 1967, Common Law, Section 117 PACE and Articles 5, 3 and 2 of the Human Rights Act 1998.
- Understand other areas of guidance if required such as: The Mental Health Act Code of Practice and NICE guidelines.
- Understand the medical implications of handcuffing, including positional asphyxia.
- Demonstrate how to apply handcuffs to a passive subject.
- Demonstrate how to apply handcuffs to an aggressive subject.
- Demonstrate how to remove handcuffs correctly.
In House Cost:
£1200.00 + Vat Per Day + £75.00 + Vat per BTEC Level 3 Certificate + 0.53 pence per mile travelling expences + Accommodation and Meals where an overnight stay is required
Any individual looking to qualify as a Handcuff Trainer and obtain a Nationally Recognised BTEC Level 3 Advanced Award Certificate. Successful completion of this course will entitle the qualified person to deliver our BTEC Level 2 (Handcuffing) in the Safe and Effective Use of Restraint Equipment Award under License.
