On the 13th May Mark Dawes and Debbie Jones will be delivering a one-day seminar on the use of force with children and young people. The event is being held at the Council Chambers, Endeavour House, Ipswich and is aimed at anyone working in children's services, especially those individuals with responsibility and accountability for the use of physical restraint.
The aim of the day is to provide an in-depth and comprehensive overview of the law in relation to the use of reasonable force, and also the possibilities that may arise - particularly important when we consider the implications of the new Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 which came into effect on the 6th April (to read the latest article on the new Act click here).
The day will cover the basic working principles of English Law, including The Human Rights Act 1998, the Children Act 1989, The Education and Inspections Act 2006, The Violent Crime Reduction Act 2007, The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, Schedule One Offences and The Protection of Children Act 1999 as well as much more.
