NFPS Instructor March Refresher Course: 18th-20th March 2008 (including the BTEC Level 3 Advanced Award in Physical Restraint Practice)

For those of you wishing to maintain your Instructor Accreditation with us, and / or attain the BTEC Level 3 Advanced Award in Physical Restraint Practice, you will need to attend the March Refresher course, which is being held at the Lilleshall National Sports Centre between the 18th-20th March 2008.

£5 Million Instructor Indemnity Insurance Cover

We are now only holding one Refresher Course, which will be in March every year and the main reason for doing this is insurance. As we are now part of the Governing Body (N.O.R.M.A.) we can offer current instructors £5 million of instructor indemnity insurance cover under the umbrella policy that we have purchased through our Governing Body Insurance scheme. The insurance policy runs from April to April each year, so by attending a March refresher we can insure you for a full 12 months. That way you get the maximum benefit of your insurance cover for the full term.

To be eligible for the insurance through us you must have current Instructor Accreditation with us. Therefore, if you wish to apply for the insurance you will need to attend the March refresher.

In addition, if you have attended a 5 day Instructors Qualifying course in the last two years but you do not have the BTEC Level 3 Award in Physical Restraint Practice, the three day refresher, combined with your previous training with us, will qualify you for the award at an additional cost of £65 for the Certificate.

BTEC Level 3 Advanced Award in Coaching and Instruction in Physical Restraint and NFPS Ltd & N.O.R.M.A. Licensed Centre Status.

This award is the next step up on the ladder in relation to professional qualifications in the field of Physical Restraint Coaching. Once you have obtained this level we will offer you NFPS and / or N.O.R.M.A. Licensed Centre status. This means that you will be licensed by us to run our BTEC Level 2 Courses in Physical Restraint and Breakaway, which you can offer to your current or prospective client base, giving you a leading edge in the marketplace.

This course is designed to take you to a higher level of coaching, moving you into a new and exciting way of thinking and learning, consistent with the values and beliefs of many of the world's top coaches. As such, the course can be challenging as it encourages you to think beyond your normal level of ability and break into new and exciting fields of possibility. This BTEC Award is equivalent to a Level 3 Nationally Recognised Coaching Qualification issued by most NGB's [National Sporting Governing Bodies].

Coaching is not only about physical skill instruction. It is about the way we think and live and therefore, coaching is a life skill. The course covers many subjects such as: advanced and accelerated learning techniques; the difference between instruction and coaching; the learning cycle and the 4 C's of Coaching, mental imagery and relaxation training, coaching psychology, including the relationship between motor learning & performance and the effect of stress on performance, the physiological - psychological loop, neurological levels of change, how individuals learn by storing, encoding, recalling and representing information uniquely to each individual, the brain's universal filtering systems, eye accessing cues, the structure of language, how to use more effective communication, how to ask precision questions, goal setting and how to undertake a training needs analysis.

What you must consider is that to gain the maximum benefit from this course your physical skills need to be already up to speed. This is because we will be taking you to new levels of thinking and training and there will not be time on the course to 'refresh' you on your technique. Therefore, we would strongly recommend that you attend the March Refresher Course, if you are seriously thinking about attending the Coaching Course in June 2008.

Licensed Centre Quality Management

If you already have Licensed Centre status then you need to attend the March Refresher as part of your commitment to quality management, as stated in your license agreement. Failure to do so will result in either the License being removed or an external audit and inspection by us at your place of work, at your expense, for annual quality management and external verification to confirm that you are teaching the skills approved and accredited by us to the standard we expect. The March refresher course costs much, much less than the visit, so is very good value for money.

To be eligible for this award you must have current NFPS Instructor Accreditation and the BTEC Advanced Award in Physical Restraint Practice.

We have still managed to keep the price of the three days the same as previous years so the cost of this years 3 day refresher is still £600 + Vat.
