As many of you will now be aware the old certificates in learning, the 7302, 7303 and the 7407, have now been replaced by the new PTLLS (Preparing To Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) which all trainers need to have if you wish to teach in areas such as adult education or the security industry.
NFPS has now gained approval to run these courses and to date we have already certificated a number of our instructors and coaches with the new PTLLS Award at Level 4.
This has been possible due to the structure and materials used in our Restraint and Breakaway Instructors Qualifying Course and our BTEC Level 3 Advanced Award in Coaching and Instruction in Physical Restraint Course.
The beauty of the way we have achieved this is that we have made the award context specific. That means that instead of just obtaining a qualification to teach, we have managed to structure the qualification around what you want to teach, in this context, physical restraint and breakaway / self-defence. By doing this learners are keener to do the necessary learning because it relates to something that they are interested in doing, as opposed to simply attending a course to get a qualification to teach.
What does this mean to you?
What this means to you, is that successful completion of both courses through us means that you can apply for your PTLLS Award at Level 4, which is equivalent to the old 7407. This saves you having to undertake an additional course to gain an additional award!
What if I have already completed both courses in the last 12 months and I have a 7302 / 7303?
For those of you who have already completed our Restraint Instructors Qualifying Course and our BTEC Level 3 Advanced Award in Coaching and Instruction in Physical Restraint, and who hold a 7302 / 7303 we can APL you to receive the PTLLS Award at Level 4.
What if I have completed both courses in the last 12 months and if you don't have a 7302 / 7303?
For those of you who don't have a 7302 / 7303 we can forward the little necessary work for you to do as part of a distance learning package and on completion of that we can claim your PTTLS Level 4 Award.
What if I am intending to attend both courses this coming year (2008)?
If you are attending the Restraint Instructors Qualifying Course in March and the BTEC Level 3 Coaching Course in June you will not need to already have a 7302, 7303, or 7407 as the courses will now cover everything that you need to do to be eligible to apply for the new PTTLS Award at Level 4. This saves you having to attend a separate course merely to gain the qualification.
What this means is that by the end of June you will have the following qualifications if you decide to train with us:
1. BTEC Level 3 Advanced Award in Physical Restraint Practice;
2. NFPS Instructor Accreditation;
3. BTEC Level 3 Advanced Award in Coaching and Instruction in Physical Restraint;
4. BTEC Level 4 PTLLS (Preparing To Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) Award.
(Please note that the cost of the PTLLS Award is not included as part of the course costs and is an additional cost of £75.00 + Vat for the administration and certification.)
Please note that since this news has got out we are being contacted daily about provisional bookings for the March and June courses and we expect places to fill up quickly.
