Many of you reading this will most probably be considering obtaining the Conflict Management Trainers Award for either personal or professional reasons. As such you will be trawling through the various courses on offer and the training providers who offer them in the hope of finding the most suitable course for you.
As such you will be looking to get the best value for your money, which is understandable, but is best value for money really best value? There is a difference and that difference is worth knowing.
Best value for money is simply that. The best price (possibly cheapest) course that you can get to get you the qualification you want. People who only seek the 'best price' may not necessarily be getting the best value in terms of the money they spend. And that is exactly what you do when you seek only best price - you spend money as opposed to investing it for future return.
Best value however, is different. Best value is based on more than price. Best value is about the 'value' you get for the money you 'invest' in your personal and professional development. It is about quality more than quantity. It is about getting the best value in terms of quality of investment, support, information, instruction and up to date knowledge and experience.
As my good friend John Steadman will tell you the most expensive thing you can buy is a cheap pair of shoes!!
Recent cases of manslaughter where death has occurred due to staff negligence, changes in the new proposed corporate manslaughter laws which make senior managers and business owners responsible and accountable for deaths in the workplace, and recent fines on issues of direct and vicarious liability (see Stringfellow and Luminar Leisure cases) are all reasons why you should look for best value and not just best value for money. This is important in terms of your own investment and the protection of not only yourself from liability, but also your employer. How much are you willing to pay for peace of mind? Is the cheapest price always the best protection?
So what makes us possibly better value than our contemporaries who offer other Conflict Management training courses, and what gives me the arrogance and presumption to advocate that we are possibly the best value provider out there - we will not advocate that we are the best value for money - but we will advocate that we are best value!!!
Well below are a number of reasons that may make you want to consider training with us.
1. We have had all of the legal components of our training legally audited by a Barrister at Law (CBE), ensuring legal accuracy on such subjects as 'Reasonable Force' and the Human Rights Act which ensures that what we tell you is as correct as it can be.
2. We are an ISO9001:2000 Approved Organisation, showing our commitment to Quality Management at International level. This means that we are committed to the pursuit of excellence via and actively monitored system of improvement.
3. We use up-to-date - cutting edge - communications skills models based on current NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and Transactional Analysis (used by all major professional bodies such as Special Forces, Police, Social Services, Hostage Negotiators, Psychotherapists, Psychologists and Social Care Professionals), as opposed to the 'old-style sender-receiver' models which were designed nearly half-a century ago for military communicators who were taught to use 'valve-based' transmitter-receivers', yet are still being taught today by organisations who treat individuals as merely machines who communicate and as such, 'less than human'.
4. We provide training on the relationship between alcohol, drugs and violence, very important considering the environments where many staff who have to undergo conflict management training operate - and we also provide you with a copy of the presentation of completion of the course.
5. We provide you with training and instruction on the risk of knives and edged weapons in our society today. This is an ever-increasing threat and yet many courses do not include this much needed and additional resource material in the conflict management training. We also provide you with a copy of that presentation also on completion of the course.
6. We provide you with 5 days training as opposed to some who only offer 3. This allows you the time to absorb the instruction at a pace more suited to your ability to learn in a more effective and productive way.
7. We provide 5 days training at a price that most of our contemporaries are providing 3 days training at - that is good value for money for those of you still hooked on the issue of price.
8. All of our instructors are very experienced and possess a lot of personal and professional competence, without, dare I say it, being arrogant or imposing. They are, as one delegate put it "Nice guys".
9. We will always go that extra mile for you to ensure that you have what you need to get you through the course and also to support you afterwards should you need it - at no additional cost.
10. We are not 'gung-ho' or advocating that we are preparing you for Iraq or Afghanistan. We approach the subject from a professional standpoint and will bestow upon you the respect you deserve as a thinking and functioning individual. You will not be treated like a child at school.
In short you can be safe in the knowledge that we know our subject and can prove it should we have to protect you or your organisation. You can be safe in the knowledge that what we teach you will be up-to-date and not based on outdated or outmoded instruction models or instructional techniques. We will also be there for you if you need us for support after we have trained you.
Best value? - You bet we are!!
All you have to decide now is whether you simply want to spend money on getting training or whether you are worth the investment in yourself by training with us?
