This event has been constructed to specifically target individuals within organisations with the responsibility for managing and / or investigating staff who use physical force as part of their occupational role and would be suitable for Head Teachers, Social Workers, Child Protection Officers, Child Care staff Children's Directorate Management, Health and Safety Officers, Health and Safety Inspectors, CSCI Inspectors, and anyone involved in the management and control of physical intervention in the workplace.
Recent proposed changes in legislation, such as the implications of the Violent Crime Reduction Bill and in particular the Power provided for Head Teacher's of schools to search pupils for weapons, will be addressed on the event as well as the current documented risk posed by Knives and other forms of Edged Weapons in the UK, including findings from the recent MORI Poll for the Youth Justice Board highlighting the amount of children who carry knives in our schools.
The event will also look at issues surrounding the use of physical force, including what is meant by Non-Harmful Methods of Control & Restrictive Physical Intervention drawing reference to the research which shows what will and what will not reduce risk.
