COURSE TUTOR - ANDY GIBB

Worked in healthcare settings for over 30 years, starting my career as a healthcare worker in a medium secure setting and quickly becoming a trainer in management of violence and aggression.

Wanting to develop my role and increase the understanding of safeguarding individuals at risk in all care settings I strived to create change in staffs attitudes and interactions with clients, this leading me into the safeguarding arena. I worked for some of the largest providers of care in the UK, at each step gaining promotion to a position which enabled me to structure change and increase awareness in safeguarding.

Trained with the UK's major leading child charity to further my personal knowledge and gain experience in a diverse range of care settings and I finally became Operations Director for a care provider covering locations UK wide. During this period of my career I worked closely with CQC ensuring significant developments in increasing the quality of care given.

I also hold a consultancy role linked with a British university in the development of child protection  and support one of UK’s largest retail providers developing safeguarding measures.

Recently working with providers of care to children, developing the services from board members and across all levels focusing on presently non developed areas of possible safeguarding concerns, always working with the focus on prevention.

Working with care providers to investigate safeguard issues and also policy development regarding serious case findings, this as been my passion for the entire working life in care and endeavour to continue reducing the abuse in all settings, not just care, spreading the understanding of the topic to a more diverse range of people who have the responsibility for others.
